A major leak has emerged allegedly showing both the detailed specifications and a performance benchmark for the upcoming Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card, which will be revealed by AMD on February 28th. Given most people assuming very competitive pricing for this new card (around the $599 mark, though this has yet to be confirmed), the below performance would make the new AMD GPU a very enticing prospect if this is true.

The headline result is that the RX 9070 XT may only be 4%-8% slower than the Nvidia RTX 4090, which is a much more expensive card than what even the highest estimates predict the Radeon flagship will be priced at – a very exciting prospect. Other people have also done comparative tests on the same benchmarks using other hardware, which we will take a look at below.

As part of the benchmark leak, we got a look at a GPU-Z window showing a fairly detailed spec breakdown of the new card. As you can see above, this shows a Navi 48 GPU with 4,096 cores, 16GB of GDDR6 memory running at 20Gbps speed, and a 256-bit memory bus (meaning a bandwidth of 644.6 GB/s).

Leaked RX 9070 XT benchmarks suggest hugely impressive performance

@VideoCardz (via leaker @hkepcmedia) posted the first RX 9070 XT performance leak on X/Twitter, which was a benchmark test conducted on Monster Hunter Wilds at 1920 x 1080 using a system with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor and 48GB of RAM. @HKEPC later confirmed that FSR and Frame Gen were enabled, and that the test was conducted on the ‘High’ graphical settings profile.

Other tech commentators have since done comparative benchmarks (as best as they can using the above information) on Monster Hunter, using systems with different GPUs, and if they can be considered a decent comparison they show very promising results for the RX 9070 XT.

Twitter/X user @9550pro showed off a benchmark test at the same resolution using a system with an Nvidia RTX 4090, an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, and 32GB of RAM, turning DLSS on (though we don’t know the exact settings they used).

Although @GawroskiT claims these results show the Radeon card to be 6% slower than the Nvidia RTX 4090 on the same settings, we’re not quite sure how he calculated this. Based on the numbers we can see in the image, the RX 9070 XT looks to be 4% or 8% slower depending on if you look at the top ‘points’ performance number (4%) or the FPS counter (8%) – perhaps he split the difference.

Either way, if these results are to be believed this is hugely impressive performance from a card that could cost up to $1,000 less than the RTX 4090.

@GawroskiT also provided the above performance benchmark on the same game at the ‘same settings’, showing the results for an RTX 4070 Ti system with a Ryzen 7 9700X CPU and 64GB of RAM. The newer card apparently beats the 4070 Ti system by around 32%, which is great if true considering the Nvidia card may end up pricing at $100-200 more than the RX 9070 XT if rumors are correct.

Finally, we have results from @GawroskiT for a Radeon RX 6800 XT system with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor and 32GB of RAM, which show the new card to be 14% faster.
